Boathouse on the Bay (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website at www.boathouseonthebay.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Reservations: name, phone, email, party size, and date/time when you book a table through our website (handled by Toast, our reservations partner).
  • Private events & corporate events: name, email, phone, event type, date, guest count, budget range, and any details you submit on our inquiry forms (handled by TripleSeat as well as our internal admin tools).
  • Career applications: name, email, phone, position, eligibility responses, resume, and optional cover letter when you apply through /careers.
  • Newsletter signups: email address when you subscribe.
  • Live entertainment / musician applications: name, contact info, links to performance samples, and any details you submit.
  • Contact & gift card inquiries: any information you include when you reach out.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage data: pages viewed, referrer, time on site, approximate location (city level, derived from IP), device type, browser, and OS.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see the Cookies section below.

2. How we use your information

  • To honor reservations, event inquiries, and applications.
  • To send transactional and event-related communications.
  • To send marketing emails when you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • To measure performance, debug issues, and improve the site.
  • To prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use first- and third-party cookies and pixels to operate the site, measure performance, and (where you have consented) deliver advertising. Specifically:

  • Google Tag Manager & Google Analytics 4: page-view, event, and conversion measurement.
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel: measure conversions and (with consent) deliver targeted ads on Meta platforms.
  • Google Ads conversion tags: measure paid search/display performance.
  • Microsoft Clarity: session-level usability insights (heatmaps and aggregated session replays). Clarity masks personal data by default.

You can opt out of analytics and advertising cookies by using your browser’s privacy controls (settings → cookies or trackers, depending on the browser), by enabling Global Privacy Control, or by using the platform-specific opt-outs listed below:

If you are in California, see Section 6 (Your rights) for the CCPA-specific opt-outs.

4. Sharing & service providers

We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the business (e.g. Toast for reservations and ordering, TripleSeat for event leads, Supabase for hosting our database, Vercel for hosting this site).
  • Advertising and analytics partners listed above, when you have consented.
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some of the advertising-pixel sharing described above may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising” under California law — you have the right to opt out (see Section 6).

5. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed to operate the business and to satisfy legal obligations. Reservation, event, and application records are retained for the period required by hospitality and employment laws. You can request deletion at any time.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you.
  • Access a copy of that information.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information (with limited exceptions).
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at office@boathouseonthebay.com or call 562.493.1100. We will verify your identity before responding.

7. Children

Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), restricted database access, and signed-URL retrieval for uploaded files. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password if you create an account, and let us know promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

9. Third-party links

Our site links to third parties such as Toast, TripleSeat, social platforms, and reservation partners. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent changes. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
